Named after the winding Meander River in Homer’s Iliad, the meander motif. Also called the Greek key or Greek fret, symbolizes infinity in Ancient Greece. It’s intricately connected to the Cretan labyrinth, showcasing a linear form of labyrinthine patterns.

This twisting pattern represents the bonds of friendship and love and is linked to the symbolism of a serpent, signifying guardianship and healing. Historically, this design adorned armor, including Philip II of Macedon’s shield.
